Jade Gown Featured in The Unstoppable Eliza Haycraft
Designed and handsewn by Trista Grieder, who teaches fashion
design at her own alma mater,
the renowned School of Fashion at Kent State University, Ohio. Ms. Grieder carefully
researched the book’s time period with help from the Kent State University Museum.
The jade green gown design has a mix of late 1830s and early 1840s characteristics.
Descriptive words from the novel helped Ms. Grieder to imagine the style of gown that
fictional seamstress Chantal Rossignol would have created for Eliza Haycraft.
